We’ve been incredibly excited to be part of the Bookshelf journey.
Over the past eight months, our library team has worked closely with Readbyte, testing, challenging and helping to shape this brand-new platform. It has been fantastic to see our ideas and feedback listened to and incorporated as Bookshelf has developed.
What I love about Bookshelf is that it isn’t simply a library management system. It combines everything I want from a modern school library platform — intuitive and flexible management, excellent reporting and insights, and genuinely engaging features such as Reading Diaries, games and quizzes that encourage pupils to explore and enjoy reading.
I particularly love the way Bookshelf can help pupils discover books that are right for them, while giving schools and parents the flexibility to request personalised, age-related visibility settings. It strikes a really thoughtful balance between supporting pupils to make appropriate choices and recognising that every child and family is different.
I want to give a very special mention to the product team, whose incredible support, enthusiasm and responsiveness have made this collaboration such a positive experience. They continue to encourage and listen to feedback and ideas from pupils of all ages, teaching and non-teaching staff, and parents/guardians, to achieve the best and most engaging library system. Remarkably, ReadByte have responded to ideas and requests immediately, and with real intelligence in design; adjusting, refining and testing features to deliver perfect solutions. It genuinely feels like our suggestions are valued and that we are working with Readbyte to create something even better.
For me, Bookshelf represents what a modern school library should be: accessible, engaging, data-informed and centred around the whole school community. It has been an absolute pleasure to work with the Readbyte team, and I'm super-excited to see where Bookshelf goes next.
